As a qualified Maths teacher, I have taught Key Stage 3 , GCSE, FSMQ and A Level Maths to a large number of students of varying abilities over the past 20 years.

I am now a full-time tutor specialising in A level and GCSE Maths. All my tuition is online via a video call with screen sharing. The sessions are 1:1 and tailored to the individual needs of each student to allow them to gain confidence, have a better understanding of the topics they find difficult and answer exam questions more effectively. I am fully up to date with the specifications of AQA, EdExcel and OCR.

As an experienced examiner I have assessed a large number of GCSE and A Level exams and I use this knowledge to help students develop their exam technique and give them strategies to approach even the most challenging questions.

I also work with home schooled students, teaching them the specification for GCSE, AS or A Level Maths and ensure that they are fully prepared to sit their assessments at the end of the course.

Tutoring Experience

I taught GCSE and A Level Maths for over 20 years in North Yorkshire and am now a full-time tutor. All my students have made excellent progress and worked with increased confidence.

I am an experienced examiner and am familiar with both GCSE and A Level specifications of AQA, EdExcel and OCR. My role as an examiner allows me to give students an insight into how to answer the questions to gain maximum marks and make the best use of the time available.

Tutoring Approach

I build good relationships with my students and I want them to enjoy the sessions. I try to make learning a positive and rewarding experience to boost their self-confidence and help them to achieve their potential.
A typical session would consist of a recap of a topic that we’ve identified as problematic and then sharing questions on the screen to either work through together, independently or a mixture of the two as the student becomes more confident. Most of the questions used are from previous exam papers. As an examiner I am able to help my students improve their exam technique and understand where and how the marks will be awarded to maximise their final grade.
