Gary

My name is Gary, and I'm currently working for a large design consultancy based in Birmingham City Centre. I graduated in 2011 from Coventry University with a BA in Accounting and Finance. While I'm working I'm also working towards my CIMA qualification to become chartered in the future.

I have been working in finance since I graduated in various roles ranging from medium to large organisations, which therefore captures a wide range knowledge in the area.

Even though I'm a busy guy myself, I do enjoy sharing my knowledge, as well as helping others who may want to get into the profession themselves in the future.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked with young adults at AS/A Level or GCSE Level on a voluntary basis while studying at university.

I also provide presentations on basic financial standards and principles on a ad-hoc basis to my colleagues in the workplace.

The experience that'll be provided will be tailor-made for the individual based on their strengths and weaknesses on the area.

Tutoring Approach

With my approach to teaching, I find out what your aim and objective is and make sure it is SMART (Specific Measurable Attributable, Relevant, Time Bound). Once this has been established, it's about working through examples of the syllabus or areas you wish to strengthen on. An example would be to go through the basic functions of a profit and loss or a balance sheet and creating it from scratch in a co-operative manner, participation and contribution will be key in applying it to practice.

With Accountancy, the key is knowing the principle of why it's created and knowing the treatment of the figures with the second being practice. Practice will embed the methodology to your arsenal and prepares you to be well equipped for deeper topics in the future.
