Private English Tuition in High Wycombe

I have over seventeen years (and counting) teaching experience within a class and as a tutor. For seven years, I worked at an independent school in Amersham and have previously worked at a leading, independent boys school in Ealing. I currently work at an independent school within the Wycombe area.

My degree is in English, accredited from Queen Mary, University of London. I have a Masters in Education from Brunel and QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) - something that all teachers should and must have to provide lessons in a classroom. I have all the relevant training required for an active member of faculty such as Child Welfare, First Aid, GDPR etc. I recently received a distinction in my post grad on Special Educational Needs and am now a fully qualified NASENCo.

I have no more availability but if you'd like to join the waiting list/line up behind a student that is ending this academic year (mid June - after the exams), message me.

Tutoring Experience

I taught KS1 for five years, KS2 for seven and tutored GCSE English for fifteen years. The majority of my experience has been gained within the independent sector. However, I have done a term of supply work within a state school.

As a tutor, I have experience teaching all key stages and adult learners. I have covered every aspect of English from SATs, CATs, GCSEs and A-Levels. Furthermore, I have written educational blogs and created questionnaires for online publications. I love the English language and helping students achieve their best - and higher grades!

Tutoring Approach

I aim to make English more digestible by breaking it up into small sections and targets. I find that grammar often needs to be addressed and I like to approach this from an almost mathematical approach. When it comes to GCSE students I think practice papers are key as well as truly understanding the texts they need to explore.

Also, I love English (reading and analysing texts) and hope this affection becomes contagious!

  • I currently only have slots available where the Tutee travels to me or online.
