Home Tuition for English in Prescot

Hi I'm Chris, an experienced English teacher working in a very successful school based in Liverpool. I have been a tutor for six years and supported numerous students to achieve their goals during this time.

I offer one-to-one tuition and can help with:
-literacy
-coursework
-exam preparation
-essay writing technique
-revision

I usually meet face-to-face but can also conduct "live" online lessons via Skype or Zoom. I have also recently started to offer an email only service for GCSE students, who live further than is feasible to travel, whereby I send exam based questions/papers and provide detailed feedback.

Tutoring Experience

I have twelve years experience in education: one as a teaching assistant, one as a PGCE student and ten as a teacher. I have worked in both mixed and all-boys secondary schools in the Liverpool area and currently work in a very academic, highly regarded school teaching the AQA specifications at A Level (Literature, spec A) and GCSE. I have tutored both boys and girls of varied ages and abilities during this time.

I have been an examiner for AQA for eight years marking the English Language GCSE paper. Recently, I marked the new English Language paper 2 exam so can offer expert advice on this part of the course.

Please note, I do not teach English Language at A Level.

Tutoring Approach

I offer a personalised approach to tutoring that is tailored to an individual's needs to ensure that they are suitably challenged and make progress. I feel that it is important to develop a positive rapport between teacher and student, so that they feel confident and encouraged to learn. I would consider myself to be patient, friendly, and adaptable.

Please include details about your child's studies (texts studying, current topic in English at school, exam board, specific areas of weakness/development) as this will enable me to assess whether I am suitable or not to meet his or her needs much more quickly than via several emails.
