Private Online Maths and Physics Tuition

Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence professional with a PhD in Applied Mathematics and Master of Science in Theoretical and Computational Physicist. I have been working in multidisciplinary projects alongside biologists, chemists, manufacturing and software engineers to design novel solutions to key problems in the biomedical, manufacturing and cybersecurity field.
Since I am passionate about sharing knowledge, ideas, skills and experience with others, I have sought over the course of time to be involved as much as possible in a wide range of tutoring and teaching activities at various levels.

Tutoring Experience

Teacher of Mathematics at Surbiton High School, London
Full-time Maths Teacher and Deputy Form Tutor at Surbiton High School - a top independent girls' schools and boys' preparatory in London with over 1300 pupils on roll. Differentiation and assessment in the classroom made easier due to the School's Digital Strategy program.

Teacher of Mathematics at the International British School of Bucharest, Romania
Preparing and delivering lessons in AS-level Statistics, A-level Pure Maths and Year 8 Maths. Assisting in the revision for mock examinations: Cambridge iGCSE and AS, A-levels Mathematics and Physics.

Tutor of Maths/Physics for SpLD Students at the University of Nottingham
Appointed to offer casual individual study support sessions for students with specific learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyspraxia, etc.): revision of lecture notes, preparation for the exams, solving problems/exercises sheets in various modules taught by the Schools of Mathematics, the School of Physics and the Faculty of Engineering.

Tutoring Approach

I believe my in-depth knowledge of Mathematics and Physics as proven by a strong track-record of research experience in interdisciplinary projects is a valuable asset for those interested in holistic learning approaches. This unique blend of experiences places me as a unique tutoring resource for secondary and university-level students, as well as adult learners. My aim is to use multidisciplinary connections while teaching whenever possible, since this can only enrich the learning experience for students.

To give you an idea of my approach to learning and its effectiveness, this all started during my secondary school years when I participated and won various prizes in national Maths and Physics contents, and made all the way to the International Physics Olympiad in high-school.

Having the experience of tutoring and teaching at University level, I have come to realise the difficulties undergraduate students face in their first years are mainly due of a lack of self-confidence in their mathematical reasoning skills. With a little bit of help and re-assurance students steadily overcome their Maths anxiety and take initiative in managing their own progress. A comprehensive approach that develops problems solving skills and encourages outside the box thinking is set to raise students’ expectations and to encourage them to pursue A-levels and eventually a University degree. It is noteworthy that students have always been amazed how easy and digestible abstract concepts are when one is capable of making the right connections to our experience in our everyday life. Being passionate about my subject matter, I am able to capture the interest of students by posing interesting puzzles that stimulates them to search for their own solutions and discover the beauty of the mathematical language. Mathematics should not be difficult and boring, but made as easy and fun as possible. I am not a fan of recalling lengthy formulas, but I rather have the students learn the principle and apply it to discover formulas by themselves. This is far more lucrative than simply applying formulas to solve a problem and gives the students the confidence and analytic mind-set that will latter benefit them. I also believe that every student with the right attitude can be guided to reach his/her full-potential and that the major challenge for a teacher is to ignite the students’ drive to start a journey of life-long amazing discoveries.
