I am an experienced teacher of German and a native German speaker born in Austria. Through my work at various schools I have extensive experience of the current A Level and GCSE syllabus mainly AQA, but also Edexcel. I have been living in Great Britain for almost 30 years as my husband is British although I travel to my native Vienna several times a year. I have three grown up children. At home I speak German to my children and the dog, but English to my husband.

Tutoring Experience

I have 30 years teaching experience in mainly post 16 education. I have been a tutor at colleges, schools, various companies and for Birmingham Adult Education, where I have worked for many years.
I have taught German for complete beginners up to postgraduate level, GCSE, A-Level, Zertifikat Deutsch and much more.
I have run a language club for young children, but I have also been a tutor on residential courses for adults.

For many years I worked as an examiner for the Institute of Linguists and later for Zertifikat Deutsch.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching depends on my students, engaging with the individual is paramount as is understanding their needs and learning style. A well prepared learner centred lesson is important to me. I enjoy using different methods and resources , worksheets, games, IT based resources like QUIZLET or KAHOOT.
I have worked extensively with A Level and GCSE students and understand the requirements of different exam boards and use past papers in my lessons.
I like to put students at ease, so they feel able to learn through mistakes and make good progress.
