Hi there!

I'm a King's College London Mathematics graduate (2017) with a Masters in Medical Statistics from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I am now undertaking a PhD in Applied Statistics at King's College London where I will be developing statistical methodology in causal inference methods.

I have over 10 years experience tutoring maths, specialising in GCSE, A-Level, and further studies. For University-level help - please inquire about specific modules.

Tutoring Experience

I started tutoring in 2013 at Kumon UK as a Maths Assistant. Kumon is a tuition program which aims to develop independent learning skills and increased self-confidence. Here, I worked with students of all ages (5-18 years) to build their confidence and ability in working independently on Maths.

After a friend asked me to cover her 1-2-1 tutoring whilst she went travelling, I felt that these 1-2-1 sessions were incredibly productive and helpful for the students and I was able to see improvements very quickly. Having now had 10+ years of tutoring experience and over 20+ GCSE and A-Level students, I feel very confident in my approach to teaching Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach

My role as a tutor varies according to the tutee and what works best for them. It's important that both parties feel enriched by the end of each session in order to achieve a happy and constructive atmosphere.

I generally teach from past papers and aim to fill any gaps in their knowledge by providing lessons on topics that the student has felt less confident in. When students feel stuck, I tend to ask questions rather than tell them what to do - this approach helps students think more independently. In my experience, I have noticed that many students lack confidence in their ability to answer questions, especially under a timed condition. Often, by pushing students to answer questions, we see that their mathematical instinct can often be correct, which will hopefully lead them to a more confident independent attitude to learning.

I encourage students to work independently throughout the week and to bring questions that they are stuck on to our lessons. I will occasionally set work or give a guideline to what work the student should aim to work on during the time before our next session. This way, our sessions can be productive and tailored exactly to their needs.
