Maths Teacher in Poole

Are you looking for a Maths Tutor? Based in Broadstone, Poole, Dorset, I provide expert tuition on an individual and group basis. All levels covered from prep/primary, 11+ through 13+/GCSE/IGCSE to A Level and University Entrance Tests. I also run intensive GCSE, AS and A level revision sessions for small groups.

I teach by zoom or face to face at my house.

I am a qualified, experienced teacher and examiner and Maths Tutor. This ensures I have an excellent understanding of the new GCSE and A level specifications. I can provide excellent references and testimonials and have an enhanced DBS check.

Tutoring Experience

After completing my Mathematics degree at Trinity College Cambridge, I gained a PGCE from Bristol. I have taught in both the selective and non selective independent and state sectors as well as holding Head of Department and Deputy Head positions. I am a qualified, experienced teacher, examiner and Maths Tutor with over 25 years experience. This ensures I have an excellent understanding of the new GCSE and A level specifications.
I also prepare students for 11+, ISEB pre-test, 13+, GCSE/IGCSE and A level Maths and Further Maths from all boards as well as Maths specific entrance papers for university. I have helped many students gain places into the local grammar schools and places and scholarships into independents such as Canford, Bryanston, Roedean, Queen's College London. I can provide excellent references and testimonials and have a recent enhanced DBS check, reviewed annually.

Tutoring Approach

I work with students to increase their confidence in Mathematics and support them in the work being covered at school.

Depending on the requirements of the student, I will follow up work covered in school to ensure mastery as well as introduce some topics in advance to ensure students cope well when they are covered in school. As a result, the majority of my KS3/KS4 students are moved up a set or more during their time with me.

For those wanting long term support for GCSE or A level subjects, I focus on examination questions once topics are mastered but take time to go through any misunderstandings carefully to ensure understanding.

I am also available for short term/one off revision sessions in the early summer but be aware that this will only be effective if your child has done a lot of personal revision but just wants help with a few questions they have had difficulty with.

I have some 1-1 availability in the day time. I also have spaces in some GCSE Higher Maths or AS Maths groups held after school, currently £28 for a group of 3/4. I currently do not have 1:1 availability after school.
