Private Maths Tuition in West Wickham

I am an established full-time tutor with a track record of being awarded the highest grades in Mathematics; I graduated in 2018 with a 1st Class Honours from the University of York, and achieved A*’s in A-Level Maths and Further Maths at Langley Park School for Boys. I specialise in teaching A-Level Mathematics, GCSE & IGCSE Mathematics, GCSE Further Mathematics, and occasionally also teach KS3 and the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge (JMC). I am familiar with all major exam boards, including Edexcel, OCR (+MEI), AQA etc.

T&C's:
- Cancellations made less than 24hrs in advance will be charged at full price if the lesson cannot be rescheduled.
- Students must keep to a regular weekly slot during the academic year.

For online tuition, I use a website that has everything all in one place including video chat and an interactive blackboard. Any questions sent by the tutee, or past examination papers they'd like to go through, can be uploaded to the screen within seconds. This makes joining and concentrating on lessons as stress-free as possible. I pay to use this service for my lessons as, in my opinion, it is superior and more straight-forward than any other free service. Setting up a free student account takes just one or two minutes.

I have slots available on Wed @ 4pm, Wed & Thu @ 2:30pm, as well as weekday morning sessions. I am also already taking bookings for next academic year so please get in touch if you would like to commence tuition in the summer! Typically, I'm fully booked by Sept/Oct.

Tutoring Experience

I am a self-employed, full-time tutor specialising in Mathematics (and have been tutoring for an entire decade with over five-thousand tuition hours), so I have had a lot of time to learn how to adapt my approach for different students. Seeing students gain confidence, improve, and actually start to enjoy mathematics is an extremely satisfying part of my job. Many of my KS3 and GCSE tutees have moved up sets in school as they tend to find the school work much more understandable. I've also had a handful of students who found Maths challenging at KS3/GCSE level, but ended up choosing to study Maths A-Level (and achieved really strong results to secure jobs/university placements).

I have tutored students from a variety of schools including Langley Boys, Langley Girls, Hayes, St. Olave's, Roedean (Sussex), Eltham College, James Allen's Girls' (Dulwich), The Judd School (Tonbridge), Royal Russell, Heathfield School (Ascot), Coloma Convent Girls', Ravenswood, Christ's School (Richmond), Ryde School (IoW), Shirley High, Bullers Wood and many more across the UK. I also teach students outside of the UK that are sitting exams such as the IGCSE.

I have had multiple A-Level students who have gone onto study at great universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, King's College London, Imperial College London, York, Nottingham, Loughborough, Birmingham, Leeds, Bath on courses such as Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Accounting & Finance, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry, Architecture, Geography - the list is pretty long! In addition, I have helped a handful of students secure apprenticeship placements.

For two years I voluntarily taught groups of Year 6’s at a local primary school, and 80% of them achieved a Level 6 during that time. I have also been able to help students prepare for the UKMT Maths Challenges, one of which made it to the UKMT Mathematical Olympiad.

Tutoring Approach

As mentioned in my reviews, my teaching style can be described as calm, clear and well-organised. I set regular tailor-made weekly assignments and always give feedback on these, examining what is going well and what still needs improving. The more exposure a student has to a topic, the more confident they will become in that topic!

I make sure that parents are also receiving regular weekly feedback on the progress made. This is very important to me as I believe that parents should be fully up to date with their son/daughter's progress.

DBS Certification can be provided upon request, as well as any other certification.

Feel free to drop me a message any time - it'd be great to hear from you!
