Ailis

I have a first class degree in English Literature from Edinburgh University, and am now pursuing a career as an actor. I offer tutoring in English, Maths, and Drama, from KS2 (including 11+ preparation) up to A Level and beyond.

At university I particularly focused on classical literature and wrote my dissertation on Shakespeare’s King Lear, as well as taking part in plenty of student theatre productions. I also studied Italian and Classics as subsidiary subjects for the first two years of my degree.

In A Level Maths I achieved almost full marks, and completed the full A Level in one year.

As well as academic help with Theatre Studies and Drama, I can also provide practical acting coaching and advice on drama school applications and auditions.

I am based in South London.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring for eight years now, and have lots of experience teaching English and Maths from Key Stage 2 right up to A Level. I have worked as a teacher with a top 11+ tuition agency, and I am also particularly experienced in teaching GCSE English and English Literature.

Tutoring Approach

In my opinion, a passion for the subject is the most important thing – it’s much easier to do well in a subject you like! My main focus is therefore to encourage and draw from the pupil’s enjoyment of their subject, and use this to hone a good exam technique. By instilling enthusiasm and confidence in pupils, I aim to equip them not only with the skills to improve academically, but skills that will help them to continue achieving later in life.
