Information About Tess - Andriesvale tutor

Personal Description:

I have 40 years of teaching experience from pre-school to university level. My highest qualification in teaching is a B.Ed. Honors Degree.The main subject areas that I taught include English, Afrikaans and Business Studies.Teaching is part of who I am as a person.

Tutoring Experience:

My teaching experience includes the following: Mainstream education (Pre-school – Grade 12: 1980 – 2000), Tertiary education (Post matric level: 2001- 2017). From 2017 to present, I am teaching Grade 12 learners from a private company. Apart from the mainstream school experience, I was also a supervisor at a private school that uses an outcomes based curriculum for teaching students. For extended periods during my career I served as a remedial teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

I was twice awarded with “Prestige Awards” by the Department of Education in South Africa for excellent teaching practices. I am using the TPR-method (Total Physical Response) in the classroom to enhance my teaching strategies. I love working with students from all age groups and have an inquisitive mind, thus enjoy exploring and learning new things. I am committed to life-long learning and is currently busy with my M.Ed. degree.
