Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Navesan. I am a Chemical Engineering, final year student, at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. I am also employed by the University as a researcher in the Thermodynamics Research Unit (TRU). I graduated high school in 2015. I have a passion for STEM field subjects and enjoy helping others study these subjects. I use my free time to look for new ways to earn cash and also empower my peers to progress. I also enjoy reading comics and occasional gaming. I love food and experiencing different cultures through their foods. I am an easy-going but also disciplined individual and I enjoy solitude as mush as socialising. I Look forward to this opportunity to tutor enthusiastic individuals on subjects they wish to excel at.

Tutoring Experience:

I have various work experiences. I am currently a researcher in the chemical engineering field for the Thermodynamics Research Unit at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. I have many years of private tutoring experience and also experience tutoring English online to Japanese students via the platform Native Camp. I have been a test script marker for the platform UCT online via the TeachMe2 site. I have management experience as I have supervised approximately 30 individuals as a front end supervisor. I have cash sales experience as a cashier and I am completely computer literate as software development is a hobby of mine.

Tutoring Approach:

Whatever a student has trouble understanding is the priority. Repetition, patience and interest is the basis of my approach to tutoring. Being patient with a student gives them the space to critically think about subject matters. Repetition is important for remembrance, both long and short term memory. Developing an interest in subject matters allows a student to think clearly because they invest more effort in understanding their interest. I use material a student would have on hand and check their understanding while developing questions to test their understanding after a learning session is complete. The testing phase is casual and gives the student room to breathe and see where exactly they lack understanding and remembrance and require further work.
