Personal Description:

I am mature and semi-retired with a great deal of experience in teaching and in business.
I have a BA with English and Psychology as majors, and also have a University Education Diploma.
I have a TEFL certificate for teaching English as a Foreign Language.
I have completed an Advanced Executive Programme, and am also accredited by the Institute for Independent Business.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught English at high school level, and have conducted online tutoring.
I have lectured at university in Industrial Psychology.
I have trained and mentored entrepreneurs.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to take a very practical and personal approach to tutoring, ensuring that students get the maximum benefit according to their needs.
I ensure that tutoring sessions are very participative, so as to ensure that students spend time doing and participating in structured conversations so as to gain practical experience in expressing themselves. I use these participative sessions to correct grammar and spelling as well as to improve vocabulary.
It is important that students get continual feedback on performance, with the opportunity to practice grammar corrections and new vocabulary.
I try to make lessons relaxed so that students do not feel over-constrained by too much formality.
For me, the critical issue is to make sure that the students' needs are met.
