Information About Marco - Randburg tutor

Personal Description:

I am naturally a logical thinker and I personally love to explain and explore new concepts to those who are interested, and to initiate interest in those who are not. To be kind, serving others, being respectful, honest and caring has always been extremely important to me; the main reasons for me wanting to become a teacher in the science and mathematics fields. Values that I hold dear, such as the aforementioned, is something that I believe is one of a teacher’s most important jobs, amongst teaching new concepts and ideas, referring to the transfer of certain values and shaping a caring future. I believe a teacher has the most power in the world; the power to be an example of how learners, that look up to their teachers, learn and accept behaviours from teachers, which is increasingly important in today’s multi-cultural and diverse South Africa.

Tutoring Experience:

1 year and 4 months of tutoring experience (science, maths) at a branch of Doc Scienta with classes ranging from 1 on 1 to group classes of +- 12 learners of varying grades and subjects in both Afrikaans and English. I am also in my 3rd year of B ed at the University of Johannesburg.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a solid believer in getting to know my student. Hence, my lessons would always start with getting to know my learner a little before jumping in to the work. I believe that knowing with who I am working with is vitally important to the both of us in the learning process! Lessons would normally start with myself getting to know where the learner is sitting with the subject, in terms of how he/she is feeling toward the content, what his/her concerns are going forward, etc. and to then take it from there. To be unbiased, unprejudiced, openminded, caring and understanding is personally very important to me when dealing with students. I have a big love and passion for both Science and Mathematics and I love initiating interest in those who are not already interested. I am a big socialiser, I love meeting new people and of course teaching new people! The progress of my students are always number one priority to me and, as a teacher and lifelong learner, I am always willing to go that extra mile to help learners understand and grasp these amazing concepts!
