This is how 4 referees rated Lianne:
I am passionate about improving and developing literacy skills. With over 20 years of teaching experience, I currently work as a Reading & Literacy Therapist working with primary school children & adults who experience literacy challenges. I work from three locations: Fourways (Kingfisher D), Bordeaux South as well as Strathavon in Sandton.
By nature, I am a people person, a nurturer and a born teacher. I am known to be intuitive, patient and caring.
In my free time, I'm an avid reader, occasional amateur artist and I'm fascinated by the human condition.
With over 20 years of teaching & training experience, I have worked in a variety of settings with both adults and children, in groups and on a one-to-one basis.
I have worked as a primary school teacher, a teacher-librarian, an English tutor and a Reading & Literacy Therapist. I've also worked in adult literacy training (ABET) as a consultant as well as computer software training (adults - beginner through to advanced).
I spent more than a decade working overseas as an English teacher & private English tutor (elementary school, middle school, high school & adults in upper management & corporate).
I've worked with people from all walks of life, here and internationally. It has been an inspiring journey.
Learning should be an enjoyable process. I strive to build confidence in every person I teach, as confidence is fundamental to the learning process. I believe that every learner is unique and comes with their own set of needs, strengths and weaknesses.
Children & Adults
Learning to read, write and spell does not happen overnight. There is no quick fix. It is a process that takes time, patience and dedication, especially if you or your child is currently experiencing difficulties.
Learning to communicate in a second or third language takes a lot of commitment. It involves more than the acquisition of vocabulary and grammar knowledge. Understanding the culture of a language and the context in which it is used is important too. However, it is equally important to have the opportunity to practice English conversational skills in a relaxed and stress-free environment, where constructive feedback can be given, without the fear of embarrassment.
I never give up on someone who is willing to learn.
