I hold an undergraduate and hounours degree in Actuarial and Financial Mathematics from the University of Pretoria and am an actuarial analyst at Deloitte.
I received 7 Distinctions in Matric in 2010 (92% for maths and 88% average) I am fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English and an outgoing and active person. I am also a sports fanatic and enjoy participating and watching sports in my spare time, especially football and cricket.
My passion is teaching exam technique so that a student can perform to their optimal potential under the pressure of an exam. We will first focus on some problem areas with which the student has had trouble with in the past and once the student is comfortable and confident with these we will move onto exam technique and approach.
Still being a student myself I can relate to your fears and problems and I would love to play a part in eliminating those.
Each student is an individual and will be treated as such. I am patient and strongly believe that there is no such thing as a foolish question as questions are a critical part of any learning experience and maths is no different.
I have a passion for mathematics and enjoy helping others develop that same passion for the subject. Whether you are a student looking to make sure of a distinction or make sure of a pass, I can help you achieve your goals.
There is no magic fix but if you are willing to make a concerted effort and apply yourself then there is nothing stopping you from making the desired improvement.
I especially enjoy helping students with exam preparation so that they can perform when it really counts in the finals. A lot of students study hard and know the theory but struggle to to apply it to specific problems under pressure. Maths is all about understanding the concepts. Once you are comfortable with the material, you can tackle any problem the exam throws at you. Confidence is key to successful exam performance and I take great pleasure in instilling that into my students.

This is the first time that I am making use of a tutor for my Gr9 daughter. He was easy to relate to, explained the work in a relaxed and understandable manner. He is extremely knowledgeable and never has to refer to a text book before explaining work. He ensures that my daughter does a couple of the same type of sums/work before they move on. He is patient and never makes her feel foolish/unintelligent/stupid.
He is always on time and friendly. He works around my daughters schedule and is accommodating if there is a change in plans. He even tutored on a Saturday before a test that was scheduled for Monday.
My daughter is positive about maths and feels more confident about the year ahead thanks to Jesse.
