Information About Lisa Mary - Knysna tutor

Personal Description:

I'm a qualified ESL English teacher with a passion for languages, travel and the arts. I've been a professional artist / illustrator for 20 years and have had many wonderful travel experiences, so I feel the time has come to focus on teaching! For the next two years, i'll be teaching in the Garden Route area. I'm 40 years old and my kids are in high school and university. We're an adventurous and musical family with a record of excellent academic achievement. As a person, I am fun-loving, earthy and rather idealistic; as a professional, I am a perfectionist who doesn't necessarily follow the conventional rules.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a recent graduate from Durban Language Centre, with a Cambridge University CELTA. This means I am qualified to teach English as a second or foreign language, at all levels. I can also tutor school learners who battle with English grammar, or even English-speaking adults who want to improve their writing skills.

Tutoring Approach:

In your first lesson, I do an assessment of your personal learning style… the way YOUR brain receives information. These results will guide me in designing lessons tailor-made for you.
Only English is spoken in classes, and there is plenty of interaction and chance to practice. I use activities depending on your own needs.
My lessons are designed to improve your grammar, vocabulary, fluency in speaking, pronunciation and using English out in the real world. Yes - there will also be simple conversation!
