Personal Description:

I have always loved Training and Teaching and Tutoring … being there when something new finds a permanent home in a growing brain is one of the most exciting things that can happen to someone like me! I have retired from the cut and thrust of business arena and now dedicate my time to tutoring, writing, and running short training courses to assist school and college leavers with Job Hunting and finding work CV Writing, Interview techniques etc.)

Having spent some 30 plus years in the HR, Training and Recruitment fields, I am able to transfer a lot of practical knowledge to work seekers.

Over the past year I have concentrated on tutoring English grammar and some literature where the language skills of my students have improved their experiences with all of their school subjects … not just English.

Tutoring Experience:

I have had many years' of training experience and writing and producing training courses and this experience together with my love for English and reading has enabled me to tutor individual pupils.

I started tutoring school work in April 2017 and continue to grow as I get more students to teach. We cover the school curriculum and I follow the work that is current for the pupil. When necessary I talk to teachers when the pupil wants this - otherwise, lessons are private and matters are kept confidential. Lessons are lively, easy and well supported by notes and mini-exercises.

Tutoring Approach:

Each student has a unique style of learning - and all the lessons and learning interventions take note of this. Lessons are tailor-made to match personal needs because I listen to the student who knows best of where and how he or she needs help. My approach is calm, serious and focused but there is time for fun and practical chatter as well!

I have found that many times it is not because a student is 'lazy' or 'disinterested' or 'lacks intelligence' that he or she may be behind in classwork - but because they didn't understand the lesson in the first place to the extent that he or she can carry over or assimilate what follows. My 'back to basics' approach usually solves the problem, especially for second language English speakers.

FOR THE LOVE OF ENGLISH classes are not stressful - and they will certainly assist with obtaining higher grade averages as well as passing tests and exams.
