Personal Description:
I am a NZ registered teacher who enjoys working one-on-one with students to help them overcome barriers to understanding so they can realise their full potential.
Tutoring Experience:
I have 20 years experience, teaching both NCEA and IB physics at St Cuthberts College (Auckland) and Nayland College (Nelson). I have also been involved as an NCEA marker.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching approach depends on the specific needs of each student. I take time to identify existing misconceptions and gaps in knowledge to establish a solid foundation for building understanding of complex ideas. I generally cover the basic physics theory relating to a concept, using animations and powerpoints to illustrate the key ideas. The student then applies their understanding by working through a range of problems, including past examination questions.
