2018 - present
High School Teacher at Greymouth High School, West Coast, New Zealand. I teach Mathematics at junior level and Level 1 of NCEA.
I prefer to work one to one, focusing on building up confidence and security. I have worked with some very nervous learners and some who have had negative teaching experiences in the past.
I design most of my own resources, based on the functional skills idea that maths and English should be relevant to the person who is learning.
I am happy to tutor via Skype, Messenger, Google Hangouts (Google Meet), Zoom or via text/email exchange.
I strongly believe that there is no such thing as 'bad at maths'. The people I have tutored have not previously been taught in a way that works for them.
Many of my learners have gone on to higher education, have started their own businesses and have passed competency tests in maths for EYPS, Teacher Training and Nursing Degree courses.
