Personal Description:

Friendly, approachable, professional teacher. Several years of experience with classroom and 1-to-1 tuition in English and Maths. BASED IN NEW ZEALAND.

Familiar with AQA, Edexcel, WJEC/EDUQAS and Cambridge exam boards, as well as NCEA Level 1 and Level 2.

My school has been part of the pilot for the new Numeracy and L1 Maths assessments, so I can provide relevant tuition for these new assessments.

I can tutor on:

Worked on an army training preparation course teaching English functional skills to troubled and disadvantaged teenagers who were aiming to join the armed forces.

2011 - 2017
Taught English, Maths and ICT qualifications to adults in various work places as part of apprenticeship programmes. Very experienced at putting requirements for these into work based and real life contexts.

2018 - present
High School Teacher at Greymouth High School, West Coast, New Zealand. I teach Mathematics at junior level and Level 1/2 of NCEA.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to work one to one, focusing on building up confidence and security.
I have worked with some very nervous learners and some who have had negative teaching experiences in the past.
I strongly believe that there is no such thing as 'bad at maths', you just need the right teacher.

I design most of my own resources and have been teaching online for several years.
I am happy to tutor via Google Meet or Zoom or via text/email exchange. I use an online whiteboard with write on function, video calling and can create videos for students to view outside of class.
