Personal Description:
I take special pride in helping each student to achieve their best by giving them detailed instruction to meet their needs. My students get excellent marks and progress quickly. I am very good at assessing the learning of needs of my students. I can teach students how to write and speak clearly and concisely to NCEA and IELTS criteria. I love languages and other cultures. I have learned Japanese, German and French and travelled widely. My second passion is reading where I can encounter other worlds and people also.
Tutoring Experience:
I have over 30 years of experience teaching English, ESOL and Japanese in various secondary schools in Auckland including St Cuthbert's College, Long Bay College and Carmel College. Over the past ten years I have taught English as a Second Language to adult and secondary school students. I'm proficient in Zoom and other electronic systems to enable online learning.
Tutoring Approach:
I find out what the students are interested in as well as what they are studying at school and need specific help with. I am patient and explain details carefully. I expect my students to do some homework (read a short passage and answer some questions) for me each week so that I can mark work and give feedback on specific strengths and weaknesses.
