I took chemistry and maths at school and obtained high grades. I further studied chemistry at The University of Auckland where I obtained the University of Auckland Chemistry Achievement Award all three years of my BSc. I then went on to complete an honours year in organic chemistry where I obtained first class honours (BScHons).
I then completed a Masters of Forensic Science in Brisbane, Australia, where I majored in forensic chemistry and obtained the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence.
I then worked in the forensic chemistry industry in physical evidence analysis. A big part of my role was training staff. I was also involved in lecturing students in the bachelor and masters forensic science programs at Griffith University.
I have now returned to NZ to live and am currently a full-time Mum to my two little kids. I plan to train to be a secondary school chemistry teacher when they are old enough to go to school.
I have tutored students of all ages in maths from 4-18 years old, most recently 4 students in 2016 in years 8-11 and 3 students in 2015 in years 7-9. I started chemistry tutoring in 2015 and tutored 5 students in years 11-13 then 4 students in 2016, all in year 12. I am therefore familiar with the current curriculum and the topics being taught at those levels.
I would love to tutor anyone who is keen for some extra help. I am friendly, passionate about what I teach, patient and will persevere with you until I see that moment where the light switches on inside your head - I remember experiencing that as a student myself when I was confused then it finally clicked and I now enjoy being able to help students experience that and really understand.
