Personal Description:

My name is Caitlin, and I am currently a veterinary science student at Massey University. I bring positivity and enthusiasm with me wherever I go, so working with people, and sharing knowledge is incredibly fun and fulfilling. I am a very dedicated, punctual and detail-oriented student who loves to learn and strives for success.
I attended Christchurch Girls' High school, and achieved excellence endorsements from ncea level 1 to 3.
My main subjects are the sciences, biology, chemistry, and physics, and I continue to develop knowledge in these areas as I progress with my veterinary science degree. I also took geography from years 9 through to ncea level 3 and received geography awards in ncea levels 1 and 3.
I also received good marks in calculus ncea level 3, and English until I chose to not continue after level 2.

Tutoring Experience:

During my last year of ncea I peer tutored several younger students at CGHS, including one international student who was still developing her understanding of English, and was, therefore, having difficulty in class.

I often help my younger brother with his work, even more so within the past year, as he has just finished ncea level 1 with excellence…

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring greatly revolves around what the individual students strengths and weaknesses are. I like to develop goals with the student and parent that we all think are achievable, while also being something to strive towards.
A really helpful thing I like doing is working through actual problems with the student, letting them try to work through them with guidance, and seeing how their ideas develop.
Then I take them back through the process and give them tools to use when approaching similar problems.
From experience, I know that knowing how to find the answer is much more useful than only memorising answers
