UCC maths graduate with a strong track record of improving results for students in junior and senior cycle over the last three years, both in person and online.
I achieved 625 points, including A's in Maths, Applied Maths, Physics and Accounting in my Leaving Cert. This led to an Entrance Scholarship from UCC. Consequently, I have an understanding of the skills and strategies needed to succeed in state exams. I really enjoy helping students get comfortable with maths and hope this is clear from my reviews to date.
Currently based in Cork, I am now giving online grinds and have experience with all ages and standards of post-primary and early college maths, in-person and online. Discounted rates per hour available for group grinds.
I have been delivering private grinds since November 2017 to a wide range of students from first year to Leaving Cert, at both ordinary and higher level, as well as college exams. Track record of improving student's grade when lessons matched by student's effort, in either junior or senior cycle.
I founded and ran the first UCC free grinds program in 2019 ahead of the state exams and worked as a tutor with UCC Maths Enrichment (for talented Junior Cert students) during 2017 and 2018.
During summer 2017, I worked at a summer camp for people with disabilities in the US.
Approach to Grinds:
I really enjoy helping others to lose any fears about maths and become comfortable with the subject in order to achieve their goals. My main ambition in any lesson is to clarify confusion on the students' behalf regarding unnecessarily complex notation or language and explain what exactly we need to do in each problem to answer the question.
In the process, I also hope to show the student that maths does not have to be as stressful as it is made out to be, and that it can be enjoyable as well as enormously helpful for other subjects.
For grinds in the weeks leading up exams, the aim is to maximise points by planning the most effective areas to cover and making best possible use of the remaining time.

Oisín is going to keep on the honours maths for the Leaving and may take on Applied Maths, while dropping Art. If you still have some names for tutors you can recommend I'd be grateful.
