Personal Description:

Registered with the Teacher's Council of Ireland. I hold a Masters qualification from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. 12 years experience teaching grinds and conversation classes, part-time for Junior and Leaving Cert students of all levels and abilities. My students have ranged from 4 years to 94 years! Some people avail of classes as they simply wish to learn a new language and others need extra academic support. Excellent references available from successful past students. All my students have noted an immediate improvement in their spoken, written, listening, reading and communication skills. Crash courses to suit students who may be worried just before exams or those who have limited time to learn the language before travelling or for work purposes. All my ex-students have gone on to achieve very high results. Setting the student at ease from the outset is paramount.

Tutoring Experience:

12 years teaching grinds and private lessons part-time for all levels, ages and abilities. Extensive experience teaching lessons and grinds to clients from all social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds including voluntary teaching experience in Tibet, Tennessee (U.S.A.) and Mexico to children and adults. Currently most of my students come for extra help with University French and Spanish as they are repeating exams. These students have already said they feel more confident after just a few lessons with me as I quickly pinpoint what they need to focus on and also prepare a home study plan to compliment the grinds. Many students come for weekly grinds on a regular basis even after they note an improvement in their grades as they feel the grinds compliment their studies and prospects. Cambridge Advanced English exam syllabus knowledge and experience as well as IELTS and Trinity exams for adults and teenagers. QQI approved teaching certificate. Experience teaching Brazilian and South American adults and teenagers from many countries. Other past students came to me for help with the French Honours Leaving Certificate oral exam and got an A in French. I also taught private French lessons in an Exam focus school. All students remarked on how I have helped improve their confidence with the language and how they had clearer insight into their strengths and what they needed to improve. All my past students said having more confidence in the language was what got them through their exams.

Approach to Grinds:

In all my lessons clear objectives and aims are set out and followed through with active participation, plenty of practice and reviewing what was learned in each session. Knowing how to use certain grammar points using real, everyday examples makes the language fun and students say they actually enjoy learning sometimes for the first time! Language learning and exam focus need not be a chore. My awareness of how language skills promote self-esteem and ability to connect with the rest of the world give students more motivation and focus in the long term. Learning a language has opened many doors for me and my students and it really increases job prospects. I believe learning should always be a fun and social activity and use a variety of resources to make learning interesting as well as educational. Students are guaranteed to improve their spoken, reading, listening and reading skills. I have experience in teaching children with Special Needs along with a wide client base.
