Information About Liam - Baltinglass tutor

Personal Description:

My name is Liam . I am currently studying for a Professional Master of Education (Secondary) (PME) in Maynooth University. I am currently in PME 2. I am currently teaching in Colaiste Lorcain, Castledermot, and live in Castledermot. I hold a Baccalaureate in Theology and Arts, my subjects were Theology and Music, from Pontifical University, St. Patrick's College, Maynooth.

My subjects are Music and Religion, which I am very passionate about. I joined my local Parish Choir when I was just nine years old, I am still in that choir, I am now twenty-three years old and I am still the youngest member. I think, in many ways, this kick-started my love of both Music and Religion, even if I did not fully know it at the time.

I have fourteen years' experience singing in choirs in my locality and every year from 2012 until 2017, I participated in the Emmanuel Concert series in the Helix in Dublin, as part of an 800-piece choir and I was chosen as a solo singer at two of those concerts, in 2015 and 2017. I have twelve years' experience of solo singing, the last five with professional training, and I specialised in performance in my undergraduate degree which required performance on an instrument based on audition, my instrument was my voice. Also a first during my undergraduate degree, as part of my required ensemble, was Conducting Skills. These skills are not normally taught at undergraduate level but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ensemble co-ordinators decided to try something new and taught us an introduction to Conducting Skills.

I am a professionally-trained singer and maintain basic keyboard skills.

Tutoring Experience:

I taught in Coláiste Lorcáin, Castledermot, in the 2021/2022 academic year. During this year, I taught 1A, 1B and 1C Religion and 5th Year Music. I also ran the school choir and participated in the Green Schools Committee.

I taught in Athy College in the 2022/2023 academic year. During this year, I taught Ivy 1 and Lir 5 Religion and 1st Year Music. I also briefly taught Hawk 4 and Eagle 4 Religion and Danú 5 Religion. I also participated in the school choir and assisted with the ASD class.

I teach in Coláiste Lorcáin, Castledermot, for the 2023/2023 academic year. This year, I teach 1A, 1B, 1C, 2A, 2B and 2C Religion and 1st Year Music. I also briefly taught 2nd Year Music, ASD 1 Music and ASD 2 Music. I run the school choir and I am on the school's Wellbeing Team.

Approach to Grinds:

Classes follow a student-centered approach to teaching that challenges the student to explore their discipline with guidance. Examination of class materials, use of relevant examples and relevant class activities will provide students with a learning experience that is enjoyable, engaging and suits their individual learning needs.
