Personal Description:
I'm a second year PME (post-primary education, subjects Music and Irish) student at Trinity College Dublin. I received 613 points in the Leaving Cert, studied French as a third subject in my undergraduate, and am also a native German speaker. In 2018 I was awarded the Dr H H Stewart Literary Award for exceptional performance in university Irish and French.
I also received the highest grade in Ireland in Music for the Junior Certificate 2014, and finished top of my Music class in my final Bachelor examinations. As I specialised in Performance, I can also offer private tin whistle and violin/ fiddle lessons.I have completed all RIAM grades in violin and have been a competitor in the All Ireland Fleadh in tin whistle.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle Irish, and Senior Cycle Music in two Irish secondary schools. I am also currently preparing a class for the Level A2 TEG (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge) oral exam in Irish.
Other teaching experience includes private Irish grinds and tin whistle. I spent one year abroad in Germany studying Music Education for two semesters.
I have experience teaching face-to-face and online.
Approach to Grinds:
I draw on the student-centred approach to teaching by looking at the student's individual needs and requirements, and tailor the lesson to help them improve in those areas. I try to deepen the student's interest in the subject, as I believe that learning works best when you enjoy the topic! I maintain a calm and reassuring presence during the lesson, as it's important to me that the student feels at ease.
