This is how 2 referees rated Karen:
I am experienced in working with children at all grades in the primary school from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. I have an in depth understanding and knowledge of the Primary School Curriculum. I have worked in the mainstream classroom as well as in a special education teacher role. I’m an organised, patient and motivated individual who strives to get to know each pupil individually in order to help them reach their full potential.
I am an experience primary school teacher. I have an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Care and Education. I worked in the childcare sector in Ireland and Australia until I completed the Higher Diploma in Primary School Teaching. While studying to become a primary teacher I spent a year doing Home Tuition with a young boy with Autism. Since qualifying as a teacher I have worked with all age groups as well as given grinds to children in maths, Irish, general homework and also to a child with autism for speech and language.
Approach to Grinds:
Having experience working with children in a variety of settings, I realise and appreciate the importance in planning for each grind individually based on the needs of the child. I like to meet with the child and its parents/guardians previous to starting grinds in order to get a sense of what they want from the grinds and use that for further planning.
