I am a 34 year old, qualified English, Religion and special educational needs teacher. I have completed many courses since finishing my degree and masters degree. I have completed a speciality course for students with dyslexia and also provide study and organisational skills. I also teach English as a second language to adults students and computer skills to students with intellectual disabilities. I am currently completing a yoga teacher training course. I like to surf, read and spend time with my family and my two chocolate labs.
I teach English and Religion in a north Dublin secondary school. My school has a range of students to include adults and teens. I also teach Higher level to repeat leaving certs in a one year course. I teach students with learning and behavioural difficulties as well as students with a wide range of learning styles and needs.
I have taught in my current school for 5 years and worked in the social care sector before this. I enjoy keeping up with the latest methods of teaching and attend many conferences and training days.
Approach to Grinds:
The first stages focus on assessing the students needs. This can include oral and written work, as well as assessing any reports that currently exist on the students needs and performance.
The students course is then split over the weeks available for the grinds and a study plan is made in consultation with the student and parent.
Study skills and learning methods are taught throughout the process.
