Personal Description:

Assistant Principal & Teacher with a 1.1 Masters Degree, 1.1 Degree in Actuarial Mathematics (Dublin City University) & 1.1 Masters Degree in Educational Leadership & Management (Maynooth University).

I have a keen interest in helping students to reach their full potential, be it those who are finding schoolwork challenging and also those who need to be challenged more academically.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been working as a teacher for the past 10 years. I have provided tuition to students in primary school and to students secondary school who were preparing for the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate, both at Higher and Ordinary level.

I have taught and provided extra support to students with varying special educational needs e.g. dyslexia, dyscalculia, S&L difficulties etc. I also have a keen interest in working with students who need to be challenged more academically.

Approach to Grinds:

My approach to tuition differs from student to student and is based on the needs of each individual student. In collaboration with parents/guardians, my plan is always to assess the current achievement level of a student, establish future targets and then create a plan of how to achieve those targets.

I find that tuition for students should be made as interactive and as engaging as possible. This I feel is achieved using an appropriate mixture of direct teaching, exploratory learning, activities and games. In using these varying teaching and learning methodologies, I feel that students are better equipped to engage with the tuition, progress academically and develop key skills.

For Junior & Leaving Certificate tuition, I would place a significant emphasis on preparing each student for their upcoming examinations. This plan would be with the students and their parents.
