Information About Fiona - Swords tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Fiona:
I am from Co. Mayo and I am currently living in Swords. I am a full time teacher and have a great interest in the subject Maths and English. I have done various courses in the two subjects and have vast experience and resources. I am of the opinion that every child needs to believe in themselves in order to learn. I am an advocate of wellbeing and positive thinking and I like to bring this into my teaching and my individual grinds teaching. I am a sporty person and I like to read books.
I have been teaching for the past 11 years in three different schools. I am currently working in a DEIS school for the past eight years. I have taught all classes from first to fifth class. I have also spent two years in learning support. I have valuable training in the two new English initiatives that have been piloted in my school. I have done maths courses through my school and feel I have adequate training to cater for all children.
Approach to Grinds:
I believe grinds should be catered to suit the individual child. Firstly, I think it is important as a tutor to discover what way a child learns best - visually, orally, through practically ideas or by written activities and plan around this. I then believe it is important to assess the child and see where they need to improve. I would then work on the areas that they need further assistance with. I would then help them to build their confidence around the subject matter as this will make them thrive future and become better at that particular subject. I think it is important to constantly revise and 15 minutes everyday of revision should be done during a tutorial.
