Information About Fergus - Limerick tutor
This is how 3 referees rated Fergus:
I am currently studying Mathematics in University of Limerick. I have a great passion for Maths. I enjoy teaching others and helping people to understand and complete problems which they find challenging. I have a great understanding in the most effective methods of teaching from helping my younger sister with both Junior Cert and Leaving Cert maths and also from helping my fellow classmates. Often when maths is taught, it can look complicated, however, I love making simple step-by-step methods which anybody can understand and use to make maths more accessible and easier overall.
I am residing in the Castletroy area both during the week and on weekends and am available to teach everyday of the week. I completed the Leaving Certificate in 2019. I achieved a H1 (97.3%) in Mathematics and a H1 (95.5%) in Physics. In 2014, I placed 1st in County Wexford and 3rd in Ireland in the Irish Mathematics Teachers Association Junior Mathematics Competition as well as achieving an A in Junior Cert Maths. I also studied DCG for my Leaving Cert, achieving a H1 (98.0%) including 160/160 in the project.
I am the second oldest from a family of five children. Throughout the academic year, I help my younger siblings with their maths homework. I helped both my sisters prepare for their Junior Cert exams by breaking down questions which they didn't fully understand and teaching them certain methods and tips which work for every question of that type. One of my sisters is now in sixth year doing Leaving Cert Higher Level Maths. I gave her support with maths throughout fifth year which she has told me has helped her greatly. Throughout my sixth year I helped some of my classmates with topics they were struggling with. I enjoyed seeing my classmates learn and I am interested in teaching more students.
Approach to Grinds:
As I completed the Leaving Cert in 2019, I am very familiar with the structure and types of questions asked in the Leaving Cert examinations. At first, it is important to identify topics which the student may find difficult. Once these topics are identified, we will practice the basics until it comes naturally and finally do the past exam questions relating to this topic. Often these questions can be written in a way where it is confusing to determine what you're actually being asked and my main focus is making sure the student knows little words and hints which can make everything much more clear.
My focus will always be towards the exam.
