Information About Daniel - Galway tutor - (1 review)
This is how 2 referees rated Daniel:
I am a final year PhD. candidate (Maynooth University Department of English) and Irish Research Council Scholar with several years teaching experience. I have published and presented at international conferences on topics relating to Irish literature, culture and history. I also have significant experience editing and publishing for peer-reviewed academic journals aimed at an international readership.
I have four years experience teaching at university level both as a peer tutor and tutor for first year English students in my department. I also have two years experience doing one-to-one Leaving Certificate grinds in both English and History.
Approach to Grinds:
I believe that grinds shouldn't be an extra class or an added stress for the student. My approach to grinds is to work with the student in a relaxed environment, focusing mainly on what they feel they need to develop in order to progress. I also focus on improving the fundamentals such as essay writing, argument development and overall presentation.
All students are different so all grinds will be different but my main aim is to find out what the student feels they are struggling with and work from there while paying close attention to the core principals of good essay writing. I aim to help the students understand what is required of them whilst also helping them to engage with the materials on the course so that they are motivated to do well. I am willing to meet with both the student and/or the parent of the student in order to put together a plan of action.
