Personal Description:

I am a qualified primary school teacher living in Wexford. Furthermore, I have a keen interest in both English and Accounting.

Tutoring Experience:

Primary school- 5 years. I have also given grinds in Irish and maths to primary school aged children, as well as learning support in school.
I have also previously given grinds in accounting at Leaving Certificate level. Though I am not currently qualified in accounting teaching, it is something I will work towards in the near future. However, I completed the Leaving Certificate accounting exam in 2016 and have given grinds in accounting for two years. I know what it is like to have to learn the subject and this is my approach to helping others with the subject.

Approach to Grinds:

I love working with students of all ages who need some extra help, and I am a strong believer that the student knows their learning styles best, and a teacher should adapt their methods to the students' needs. My first session with any student will involve communication about the exact areas they need some support with.
With primary aged children, a fun learning environment where a child can explore topics in Gaeilge, English, and maths is crucial to their learning, and both my classroom experience and special educational teaching experience aids the creation of such an environment.
Teaching to secondary school students is of course, very different. I teach from previous exam papers as this is what the students are working towards. With accounting, for example, the paper is divided into 3 sections. We will look at the structure of each possible account, the layout, plus any adjustments which are seen in the accounts, both higher and ordinary level.
The English courses in both Junior Cert level and Leaving Cert level are complex. I achieved an A in Junior Cert HL and an A1 in Leaving Cert HL, I know what examiners look for and I know how to get students to a strong standard, ready to take on the exam, and more importantly, gain confidence in themselves!
