Personal Description:

Hi, my name is Conor . I currently work as a Data Scientist in the insurance industry. I have a BSc in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Limerick, where I received a 1.1 grade. Furthermore, I have a MSc in Actuarial Science and Mathematical Science: Quantitative Risk Management from the highly accredited (consistently ranked within the top 20 universities in Europe) University of Amsterdam, receiving the equivalent of a 1.1 grade. In addition to these qualifications, I have passed a number of the professional actuarial exams.

I have always had a knack for passing exams. I can proudly say through out the many exams I have done I have yet to fail one (except my first driving test). I believe that there are useful tips and tricks that any student can employ to greatly improve their chance of passing and getting the highest mark possible in the exam.

A short synopsis of who I am, I am from Kerry originally and I have relocated to Dublin in the past couple of years. I am quite an outgoing person. I like to keep fit, going to gym regularly and cycling to work - weather permitting. I have always been passionate about Mathematics, this passion is evident in any of the grinds I offer.

On a side note, I am very passionate about computer programming and data science. I would be more than happy to point any would be students in the right direction, to get an early jump on a career in the field. It is a very exciting area to work in, with huge opportunities.

Tutoring Experience:

I have given grinds throughout my 3rd level education. Primarily I have given grinds to leaving certificate students. I have some experience giving grinds to 3rd level mathematics students. I have experience with students who need that little extra to receive the highest marks, students who need help to just get over the line and pass, and everything in between. All my students have succeeded in achieving their goals and most have exceeded their goals. I have experience with both group classes and one to one classes. Both are extremely useful, however you will not be able to beat the hands on teaching you receive with one to one tutoring.

Approach to Grinds:

The main emphasis of my grinds is exam preparation. At the end of the day, you will be assessed on your exam performance. I hope that the skills the students learn are not forgotten once they leave the exam hall but at the end of the day the main aim is for the student to get as high marks as possible. As alluded to, I feel exam preparation and technique is where my expertise lies.

The grinds I offer are very hands on. I try to make sure the student understands what they are doing. It is much easier in the long term to understand a process than to learn off how it is done. I think most students need one to one tutoring to really be able to understand the more complex areas of the subject.

Each one of my grinds, are geared towards the individual student. I pride myself on being able to quickly figure out the best approach to each student. There is no one teaching method that suits everyone. I think this is why grinds are so important, gifted students can fall behind in large classrooms, when all they need is a little further explanation on the given subject. I think Maths in particular, extra tuition is invaluable.
