Personal Description:
I have always loved the Irish Language and I understand the place of the language here in Ireland and in the context of Europe.
I have always loved reading also, and chose The Arts for my Degree.
I went on to do my Masters in Irish. I really enjoyed studying Irish Language and Literature.
I also have a keen interest in journalism. Whilst in secondary school I won the national Slógadh prize in journalism and was editor of the school magazine. Since then I have had articles published in such Irish Language magazines as Feasta and An tUltach.
I also play football and swim regularly.
Tutoring Experience:
I have a great deal of experience of teaching, writing, researching and translating in the Irish Language.
Since I completed the Ard-Dioplóma san Oideachas (H. Dip through Irish) I have regularly given one on one Irish Language classes (Grinds) to individuals undertaking the Leaving Certificate, University exams and Irish Language interviews.
I have extensive experience teaching Adult Irish Classes to staff and to members of the public.
Approach to Grinds:
I have extensive knowledge of the Leaving Certificate Irish curriculum as well as university B.A. material. I love every aspect of the language, be it creative writing, literature, poetry or drama. I am also very capable of improving a learner's standard of both written and spoken Irish. Improving your written standard is key to improving results right across the board of all aspects of your Irish exams, both Leaving Cert and at University level. I will also greatly improve a student's ability to converse in Irish and ensure that they can deal comfortably with the oral examinations.
