Information About Aisling - Dublin tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Aisling:
I just finished my bachelors degree in Law and German at Trinity College Dublin and received a 2.1 grade. I studied German in secondary school for the Leaving Certificate and received a B 1. I lived and worked in northern Germany during the summer of 2015. I also underwent my Erasmus year in south-west Germany, where I studied law through the medium of German. I really became familiar with German culture and will always consider Germany to be a second home to me. I miss speaking it and would love to keep my level up by tutoring.
During my second year of college I partook in the voluntary tuition programme at Trinity. The programme involves students giving weekly grinds to children from disadvantaged areas in Dublin. I tutored in Maths, English, German and Irish and really enjoyed teaching.
Approach to Grinds:
I think it is important to get the fundamental basics right when learning any subject. For German I would focus on the bones of the grammar and key vocabulary before moving on to anything more advanced. Sometimes in schools, the teacher simply moves at too fast a pace for the pupil which can be very overwhelming and is completely counter-productive. Understanding the basics of grammar are essential to comprehending anything more advanced. German is a very formulaic and rule based language and can be easy to learn once you crack it! I also think introducing the students to German music, films and history is important for them to understand german mentality and to make the language come alive !
