Personal Description:

My undergraduate degree is in science in Trinity College Dublin where I specialised in microbiology. During my final year of college I carried out my own research project where I developed a number of research, presentation and writing skills. I am currently a first year graduate medical student in the University of Limerick.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been working as a teaching assistant since 2018 in the Centre for Talented Youth, Ireland (CTYI) and have assisted teaching a variety of university sample courses for both children and teenagers.

Approach to Grinds:

I believe that everyone learns in different ways and once we can figure out what is the best way for that particular student we can incorporate this into our sessions. This might include using visual aids and pictures, recommending extra videos to watch, drawing diagrams or through reading text.
During these grind sessions we can either follow a curriculum that I can come up with, follow along with what the student is covering in school or revise topics already covered. I encourage students to tell me what they want to learn especially if certain areas of the curriculum cause more difficulty than others. Students are welcome to send me in advance what they wish to cover each week so they can make the most out of each session.

Specific approaches to grinds will also depend on the level of the student. For example for junior and leaving cert students we may put extra focus on exam questions to supplement knowledge but primary school student sessions may be a bit more interactive.

If students have any questions about studying, making timetable, study methods, learning styles and any questions about college, I am more than willing to help here too.
