Information About Navya - Clonee tutor

Personal Description:

My name is Navya and I am currently in my 3rd year studying Pharmacology. During my school years, I always found it easier to understand topics when I pretended to teach it to someone else, hence why I now love teaching students. It's a very rewarding feeling when I see students reach their full potential. I always make sure to make my sessions focused and interactive to make sure students are able to make the most out of the session.

I'm a very enthusiastic and hardworking student who always tries to go above and beyond in everything I do. During my free time I enjoy reading, playing the violin and classical dancing.

Tutoring Experience:

In fifth year I volunteered at the Kumon Centre where I helped young children with Maths and English. I often taught groups of students a specific topic using various teaching techniques. I also helped students with their worksheet and provided them tips on how to go about certain questions. Moreover I correct their work and provided them feedback on where they could improve.

Subsequently, one year later I started giving one on one grinds for Irish and French Grinds junior cert students.

Approach to Grinds:

Since a language is quite difficult to grasp at first I made sure the student understood the basics before moving forward. I would give them some vocabulary words to learn off each week and revise by using Duolingo. As well as that, I would cover some grammar each week and give them exercises to practice it. Exam papers are key for any subject and is the best revision resource. After completing a certain element e.g. poetry section in Irish, I go over past exam poetry questions and provide the student some tips on how to achieve the highest marks. Once that is completed, the student would try to do a poetry question without any notes under the specified time limit. This way the student gets used to the amount of time they need to spend on each question. Mock papers are also sometimes provided to get an idea on the type of questions they ask every year.
