Information About Bill - Dublin tutor

Personal Description:

I am currently attending Bath University for a PhD in Mechanical engineering, where I use Mathematics, thermodynamics and material science to improve the efficiency of automotive engines. I have been giving grinds for the past 11 years, starting in my first year in UCD, and love being part of my students academic development as they prepare themselves for the next chapter of their lives. As a result of my passion for teaching I currently assist in lectures, tutorials and laboratory demonstrations in various subjects, with the aim to becoming a full time lecturer on completion of my PhD. I look forward to talking to you and hope to get the opportunity to work with you in the future.

Tutoring Experience:

Giving Grinds for 11 years at various levels
I teach Leaving Certificate Maths and Physics Honours level and Applied Maths Honours level
I lecture, give tutorials and laboratory demonstration at the Bachelors and Masters degree level, modules include:
Thermodynamics
Mathematics
Applied maths
Physics
Control Theory
Mechanics of Solids
Instrumentation

Approach to Grinds:

The first grind is used to get to know the student, them get to know me and evaluating the level of their level.
After this I discuss with the student on what their ambitions are and where I feel we should start.
I use zoom to communicate and PowerPoint to get the substance of the topic across.The white board tool on zoom gives both myself and a student to answer any extra questions together as it allows both of us to write at the same time. There will be homework give at the end of each session.
At the end of each chapter questions are given for the student to complete and give back for correcting. Tests are also given to the student to help prepare them for the actual exams.
