Personal Description:

I am a certified primary/junior teacher, experienced secondary school Science and Math Tutor, a Specialist in Special Education and Education Law, and previously a homeschooler covering all grades pre-K to grade 4. Currently, I teach at a private school, offer one-to-one tutoring (in person and online) as well as small group tutoring in the north end of the GTA.

Tutoring Experience:

As an experienced teacher and private tutor familiar with public, private schools and learning centers (eg. Oxford Learning Centres, Mathnasium, Century Montessori, Blyth Academy) I have recently started to offer individualized tutoring services in small group settings for younger students as well as online services and seasonal workshops and camps.
I enjoy teaching, have children of my own and have also homeschooled for many years. As a parent with a child who has Down syndrome, I've learned so much about the specific needs of students with a mild intellectual delay. My perspective of teaching and the education system have really broadened on many levels and I’ve learned that students all have unique learning styles, benefit from particular teaching styles, and thrive in positive learning environments.

Tutoring Approach:

Students may encounter new settings or subject material that can create new challenges. Often, a positive mentor or tutor who is familiar with the student can assist the learning process. Even adults learn and grow and benefit from assistance along their path of learning. Sometimes students may just need to fill in some gaps from transitioning between grades, schools or within a particular subject area or need some repetition to solidify learning.
Individualized learning and tutoring enriches progress in school. Students should enjoy developing learning skills, acquiring knowledge and gaining confidence in the learning process.

Homework groups can foster good study habits as well as reduce cost of expensive one on one tutoring fees while providing a stimulating learning environment for after-school care where students also receive professional guidance and assistance with homework. Students look forward to belonging to a group and learn from one another and spur each other on.
