Personal Description:

I am an Ontario certified primary/junior teacher, with over 12 years of experience tutoring elementary and secondary school students as well as classroom teaching for many years in private schools mostly at the middle school level. I have also enjoyed my experience of homeschooling my own child from pre-K through to grade 8 in all subjects. I also have additional qualifications in Special Education and Education Law and continue to study in this area.

Tutoring Experience:

I enjoy teaching and value all my experiences especially customizing individualized learning plans for specific needs. As a parent with a child who has Down syndrome, I've learned so much about the specific challenges for students with a mild intellectual delay and this has been instrumental in shaping my teaching practice. My perspective of teaching and the uniqueness of each student-teacher relationship, has really broadened over the years and I believe all students are capable of learning when provided with the appropriate tools, stimulation and encouragement. Any amount of extra work, study or focused learning contributes to fruitful learning and any amount of tutoring is never a waste of time. Good study habits and routines are invaluable for student success.

Tutoring Approach:

Like parenting, teaching also evolves and adapts with each teacher-student relationship. Varied learning experiences and environments are also contributors to successful learning. Many students often experience gaps in learning in specific subject areas. Perhaps a professional tutor can provide some extra attention to your child's learning needs, A fresh perspective and a positive approach are always good elements for successful learning.
