This is how 2 referees rated Yasaman:
My name is Yasaman and I am originally from Iran. I enjoy engaging with students to empower and enrich their experiences with various subjects. I lived in London, U.K. for about 4 years and studied Food and Nutrition (BSc) at Kingston University. After my graduation, I moved to Toronto, Canada to be closer to my family and further develop my expertise in the field of Public Health sciences. To achieve this goal, I am currently studying Public Health and Safety program at Ryerson University. I am proficient in SPSS, Redcap, and MS Office Suite (Including Access and Excel). I am also fluent in Farsi, English. I love teaching and helping people achieve their goals.
My teaching experience began at Kingston University of London where I became a student tutor for a first-year chemistry course for 2 years. Throughout this experience, I maintained regular contact with first- and second-year students, assisted them with completing their assignments, and prepared them for exams with practice questions. I also mentored students on using SPSS, research methods, and chemistry.
I also have several research experiences both in Canada and U.K. in health-related subjects.
I believe in the limitless potential of all students. I believe that each student is unique, hence requires a personalized approach to learning. As a result, my first step in teaching is always to determine what style works for the student the best. I strive to use all learning modalities to coach students in developing their strengths while working on their weaknesses. Further, I find discipline as an essential component of effective teaching. For the tutorial program to be effective, students must be able to count on tutors being available during the posted hours. I will also try to ensure that topics are described perfectly using various resources to ensure an engaging session. After all, my main goal is to provide a learning environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think, grow, and develop an in-depth understanding of the subject.
