Personal Description:
I am currently enrolled at Queen's University for a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science and Human Geography. I have always loved working with children and actually debated studying to become a teacher! I consider myself a very organized, sociable person who loves to not only learn for myself but also help share that knowledge with others. I have also worked with children who have special needs and learning disabilities which gave me the experience necessary to understand that everyone's brain works differently and sometimes a new teaching strategy is all it takes to make a concept stick. I understand how important the role of a teacher or tutor plays in determining the student's attitude towards a subject so I make it my goal to not only have you thoroughly understand what you're learning but also to find a love for it. One additional fun fact about me is that my favourite ice cream flavour is chocolate peanut butter!
Tutoring Experience:
I have been tutoring for over 2 years with the L2L tutoring program for high school students in subjects such as English, Math, Science, Geography, History and ESL (English as a Second Language).
Tutoring Approach:
I believe students work and understand best when things are calmly broken down and easily explained to them. Everybody has their different strengths and weaknesses and sometimes in order to understand something complex, finding new ways and approaches to explain it can be very beneficial because we all think in different ways.
