Personal Description:
Hi there! My name is Tristan :) I'm 3 years into a PhD at Queen's in Engineering Physics, working on advanced manufacturing and specifically metal 3D printing (tiny metal power particles selectively melted with a laser). I also did my undergrad in Engineering Physics, which was a combination of large, open-ended engineering design projects and core courses in math, physics, and programming. I spend the rest of my free time gardening, reading and running.
Tutoring Experience:
I've worked as a teaching assistant for 3 years, running tutorials and labs of approx. 50 students in both first-year engineering lab practice and second-year programming. Each semester, I will also typically take on 5-10 first-year calculus students for tutoring, giving me experience with groups and one-on-one tutoring, both in persona and remote.
Tutoring Approach:
Focus on long-term progression, just-in-time teaching. Set down clear goals for the semester and constantly upda**Contact Detail Removed**sson plans as new pain points pop up.
