Information About Nicholas

Ottawa tutor

Personal Description:

Hello! I'm Nick. I am an aspiring Junior/Intermediate teacher out of Ottawa, Ontario. I have passions for History, Geography, and Political Science. My favourites are contemporary international history, world geography, and political theory.

I worked in a professional manufacturing setting training people from all over the world from all educational backgrounds. My biggest strength is adaptability; I identify the most helpful, efficient learning style for the student and modify the content to help the student succeed.

I also have strengths in public speaking, presenting, and essay writing.

Tutoring Experience:

My academic background stems from my undergraduate degree at Carleton University. I majored in Political Science, but my true passion was my minor in History. I focused on international politics, human rights, and political theory. I also studied contemporary history, both Canadian and International. Additionally, I dabbled in Philosophy and Law courses.

My professional background is as a Production Supervisor for three years, working with a plethora of individuals with various backgrounds from all over the world. This opportunity has helped me to hone my teaching style to adapt to the needs of the students and develop lesson plans specific to said student(s).

Additionally, I am available for most subjects at an elementary level and writing/English skill development at all levels of education.

Tutoring Approach:

My methodology stems from a students-first approach; I change focus based on the needs of the student to highlight their strengths. I enjoy visual aids, establishing "why things are the way they are," and I look for ways how students can not only achieve their goals, but have fun while learning. I think it is important for the student to feel accomplished while learning by setting day-by-day realistic goals and creating a personalized game plan to achieve them.
