Personal Description:
I am a recent Bachelor of Science graduate from the University of Alberta and am currently enrolled in the University of Calgary's Education after degree program beginning in September 2021. I have always had a passion for learning and wish to instill this love and curiosity in our future generations.
Tutoring Experience:
I have volunteered with numerous tutoring programs including an after-school math program for junior high students and for students on the autism spectrum. I have also worked for TutorDoctor as an at-home tutor in which I tutored students K-12 in English and Science. As such, I am very comfortable working with youth of all ages and backgrounds, specifically within a learning environment.
Tutoring Approach:
I approach each tutoring session with an adapted method to best suit the individual learning needs of a student. I like to tutor with a sense of compassion and empathy so that students feel safe to make mistakes as they learn and develop their skills. I take on a more liberal approach by rewarding achievements and encouraging students to point out their mistakes and develop personalized ways to overcome these hurdles. Regardless of what kind of approach needs to be taken in terms of the best teaching style for each learner, students should feel comfortable and empowered to reach their maximum potential when tutoring with me.
