Information About Michael
Kitchener tutorPersonal Description:
PhD in physics 2020 Emory University in Atlanta. All funds go to my exploring Canada fund so I can see more of this country while working here temporaily.
Tutoring Experience:
I tutor physics and math in my spare time starting during my undergraduate work. I continued to tutor through my Ph.D. in physics. I have had multiple teaching fellowships.
Tutoring Approach:
I tutor using a three-pronged approach, I focus first on helping students to understand concepts because having a fundamental understanding of the concepts and building intuition about science and math is as valuable as gold. I also help students to develop good organizational skills by developing their problem-solving strategies, in practice, this means we spend time talking not just about how to solve a specific problem, but how to organize our thoughts so that we can approach any problem in physics. Finally, I help students to build confidence so that when they are solving problems or answering general questions on quizzes they have the confidence to take the tools we worked on privately into the exam with them.
