Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Megan and I'm passionate about teaching English. I am organized, detail-oriented, compassionate, and friendly. I realize that every student has a unique set of gifts and challenges and I am able to meet anyone at their level, whether it is a high-school student learning to organize and format a research paper, an adult who is looking to further their ESL/ELL proficiency, or a child who is struggling to read.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught classical piano, held a position as News Editor for my student newspaper, and was Vice-President of the English Students Association (ESA). I have extensive experience in class and beyond in creative writing workshops, research papers and MLA formatting, helping to publish the Louden Singletree literary magazine, and have published several short and long-form articles in The Cascade student newspaper. I have also worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and have volunteered for various educational programs.
Tutoring Approach:
I am sociable, outgoing, and patient. I provide a gently structured approach to teaching in a way that is tailored to the students' needs. I begin with a self-assessment and incorporate reading aloud, writing, and comprehension into every lesson — practise makes perfect!
