*Looking to start working in September!*
Hi! I'm a 2nd year Bachelor of Education student at Glendon College, York University. In April 2019, I finished up my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a minor in French Studies. In September 2019, I started Glendon's B.Ed program to become a French immersion elementary school teacher and am entering my second year of the program shortly.
For a bit more context, I grew up in Richmond Hill and went through the French immersion elementary school system, so I'm very familiar with the material that's taught in immersion schools! Furthermore, I have a love for languages and travelling! I spent 10 months living in Neuchatel, Switzerland, where I had the opportunity to live with a local family and work on my French.
I was a tutor at Oxford Learning Centre for a year and a half, however, I left in December 2018 to focus on individual tutoring. Since then, I've worked with many students in their homes or in local libraries, supporting their in-school learning!
Before COVID-19, I spent every Wednesday in a Grade 3 F.I. classroom in the West end and every Thursday at MLSE Launchpad supporting their Homework Club.
I've also been a camp counsellor for many summers, and a Supervisor/Unit Head at a day camp in Toronto for the past three summers.
After working with three kids each hour at Oxford, I'm excited to shift my focus to individual tutoring! I believe that patience and enthusiasm are extremely important and I bring these qualities to the forefront when I tutor. I'm passionate about language, education and learning. I truly want to make a difference in my students' lives and I'm ready to develop close relationships with students and watch them become more confident learners.
*We are facing a challenging time here in Toronto and around the world. I would love to work with Toronto-based students in the French immersion program who need to keep up to date with their French reading, writing, oral expression or any other school subject that is taught in French. Lessons can, of course, be customized to fit the needs of the student and will be offered on Skype or Facetime. Depending on your comfort level, I am also open to in-person lessons. I live in the Queen St. East/South Riverdale/Corktown area and would love to stay nearby*
